Merry Christmas!
My blog may be shorter than usual this week, with Christmas and everything, but we wanted to take a moment to say Merry Christmas to everyone. It's extremely cold across most of the country, traveling has been limited, and lots of people are just staying home. And that's pretty much what we are doing this weekend.
There are the hearty ones out there, the plow driver's, the farmers, the lineman for the power company's, caregivers and others that all need to do their jobs. The kids are in and out, grabbing a little snow and fun, then warming up and going back out.
But for the day, most of us are on the inside looking out. At least I'm looking out. As I'm sitting here, looking out at the birds, I can't help but think how good it feels knowing that we're all cared for. We often praise the birds for eating all of those pesky insects all summer. But honestly, I just love watching them. And so I put feed out for them every day. The fat and fluffy cardinals were the first ones to the feeder this morning. Those bright red feathers of the Mr. and the olive grayish reddish tinted feathers of the Mrs. must have some high tech superpower insulating qualities to them, because our thermometer said negative eight, and yet they seemed quite comfortable, flitting about and enjoying the food that we put there for them. It's easy for me to look out and to wish that I could spend the whole day out there like they do, enjoying it all, not a care in the world, not even the cold freezing their little feet. Funny thing, the birds are probably looking in, wishing for the heat and all of the food and good things that I have piled up on my feeder.
It's easy to look out and wish that we had everything that everyone else has. But it's better to look inward, and to be thankful for that. For us, we are grateful for life, and not just life, but for life with a purpose.
The end of this year will mark the end of our first full year as Keen and Bright. We hope that we've shared lots of God's love and joy with everyone and not just our glass products.
It's been a fun time of working together as a family, trying to figure everything out and it feels like we are slowly becoming established as a business, but still have a long way to go. We are so thankful for each of you that have encouraged us, shared life with us, followed our blogs or bought our products. I'm sure it's been said somewhere in the past, "a couple of beans will keep you going for the day but a compliment will last a lifetime".
You have all been a part of it and as we flit about, it feels good to know that we've been taken care of!
Merry Christmas!
From our house to yours.
